I love this time of year and hope you have found some inspiration for decorating with some simple, neutral tones in your home. I will enjoy the glow of our twin Christmas trees, the yummy softness of our chunky knit stockings and blankets and the warmth of a crackling fire. I love how they look against the darker stone of the fireplace and they are just so darn cozy.Ī copper bucket filled with oversized pinecones is the perfect neutral accent by a simple linen chair or on the fireplace hearth.Īs we make our way through the holiday season, we will spend many days and nights gathered together in this room with family and friends. My absolute favorite stockings are these creamy, cable knit ones that I got last year. With three kids and three dogs we need a lot of Christmas stockings around the fireplace, so I hung ours on the mantle and the pups on a rustic ladder leaning against the fireplace. I tied a frosted wreath to the fireplace screen and stacked some birchwood logs inside the fireplace. (I consider any greenery a neutral color) I also added a couple of small, faux pine trees in natural wood containers on one side of the hearth. I think the overall look was really dramatic, but still neutral and warm.Ībove the fireplace, I used a mixture of fresh cedar garland and faux, frosted garland to create a full look, but still keep the colors neutral. Finally, I used a couple of chunky knit blankets wrapped around the bases as tree skirts. I then added a creamy toned, wired ribbon and some matte and glossy white ornaments. This gave the trees a super neutral and natural look that I love. I also got larger stems with bunches of mini pinecones at my local Michael’s Store and placed them throughout the tree. I made sure they were tucked in so they looked as if they were growing naturally on the tree. I used frosted pinecones on floral picks and they were super easy to place all over the tree. I set the slimmer tree on a box slightly behind the fuller tree and ended up loving how it looked.įor the tree decorations, I decided to stick with creamy whites mixed with different sized pine cones. We’re huge fans of affordable decorations with a major impact, and this cute set of snowflake clings is just that. I wanted a soft, neutral palette that we could enjoy throughout the holiday season, without getting tired of it.
